WhatsApp’s privacy settings
WhatsApp has become one of the most popular messengers. The service is available to every user for free and is not limited to one operating system. But also some functions like “last seen” are unclear. We’ll explain what it means.
WhatsApp: What does “last seen” mean?
WhatsApp has several privacy settings. If you have enabled the “last seen” setting, depending on the people you are texting with, they may be able to see when you were last online. You can choose to show this to your contacts only or to all of them. Contacts are all numbers you have saved in your phone book.
“Last seen”: How to disable it
Time needed: 2 minutes.
If you want to change the settings of who sees when you were last online, you need to follow these steps:
- Open WhatsApp
Open WhatsApp on your phone (no matter if it’s Android or iOS).
- Go to the settings
Click on “Settings”. In iOS, this is the cogwheel on the bottom right, in Android the three dots on the top right.
- Go to your Accounts’ privacy settings
In the next step, go to “Account” > “Privacy Settings”.
- Change settings for “last seen”
Now you will see the option “last seen” right at the top. Click on it to change your settings. Here you can also change the settings about who is authorized to see your profile picture or info, who can add you to groups or view your WhatsApp story.
