ABCmouse.com

The app ABCmouse.com is great for younger kids, especially between the ages of 2 and 8. It has a lot of great features for reading, math, science and art.

  • All answers can be handwritten or drawn, so your child can practice some handwriting skills as well

Elmo Loves 123s

With the App Elmo Loves 123s your child can learn numbers in a fun and exciting way. The app is best suited for children between the ages of 2 and 5. Here’s what you can expect:

  • Kids can learn numbers with one of the apps’ many videos and games to draw and memorize the number shapes
  • It also teaches children how to count in a fun way
  • There is also an Elmo Loves ABCs app to learn the alphabet
  • The app costs $5 and is available for Android and iPhone

Hungry Caterpillar Play School

The Hungry Caterpillar Play School app covers five areas of learning for kids between the ages of 1 and 5. Here are the features of the app based on Eric Carls children’s book:

  • The app covers the five learning areas shapes and colors, alphabet, numbers, book reading, and arts and puzzles
  • It is colorful and teaches children with fun activities and games
  • The Hungry Caterpillar Play School is free to download for Android and iPhone, however, to access the content you will need a subscription, which costs $6/month or $50/year

Khan Academy Kids

The Khan Academy Kids app is recommended for kids between the ages of 2 and 5 and can help children with counting, learning to write their name or taking measurements.

  • Your child will be guided through the app by five animal characters to make the learning experience more fun
  • The Khan Academy Kids has a well-sorted library with different lessons for various learning topics
  • For beginner readers, there is also a large variety of e-books in this app
